Felice Laverne

If ever there was a person who lives and breathes the publishing industry, it’s me. I am an established and industry-recognized book editor, ghostwriter, proposal writer, sensitivity reader, repped fiction author, literary agent and author coach. I am the Founder and Principal Agent of ArtHouse Literary Agency, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English, concentration Creative Writing, from Georgia State University as well as a Master of Arts in Publishing from Kingston University in London, England. There, I specialized in Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in Publishing, which comes in handy when I'm working on racially charged or diversity-centric projects and book ideas. I also partner with select publishing houses, including Sounds True, to host Diversity & Inclusion-centric sessions to support the editing, marketing and publicity of their BIPOC authors. Because of my background in DEI (with which I've partnered with HarperCollins Publishers and Sounds True, among others) I'm also a fantastic resource for editorial sensitivity reads and guidance.

As a book editor and ghostwriter, I've worked with equal part fiction and nonfiction authors across the gamut of genres. I love diving in and getting my hands dirty with a manuscript, and I'm known for being deeply involved in helping my authors reach their highest potential. I've worked with phenomenal books such as Zerlina Maxwell’s The End of White Politics (Hachette), MJ Harris’ Get the F*ck Out Your Own Way: A Guide to Letting Go of the Sh*t That’s Holding You Back (Legacy Lit), and Bonnie Wan’s The Life Brief: The Simple Tool to Unlock What You Really Want from Life (Simon Element), among so many others. As a publishing partner, I'm excited to have ghostwritten full book projects for Legacy Lit, Simon Element and Sounds True, among others. From getting your manuscript ready for self-publishing or agents to partnering with you and your publisher to turn in the manuscript you've always envisioned, I'm experienced in manuscript editing and ghostwriting for all facets of the book industry.

I've taught editorial classes for new authors at the Publishing in Your Pajamas Summit and at the Black Women in Publishing Summit, and I've sat on pitch panels at Black Writers Weekend and at the South Carolina Writers’ Conference. I’ve also facilitated workshops at the Northern California Writers’ Retreat!

I was also asked to speak at the 2021 and 2022 Women in Publishing Summits and invited to put together a 3-day summit for Sounds True in support of their BIPOC authors - so, if you're looking for a multi-faceted editorial partner to motivate your career and help you energize your writing, I'm a known and trusted name within the publishing industry who can offer you a one-stop shop for all things publishing. The magic of this amount of experience is that it allows us to forge a lasting partnership where you'll never have to be referred out or handed off. I have the experience to be your partner for all of your editorial and publishing needs.

I am also an author myself, represented by Transatlantic Agency.

Working with Felice was a blessing I never expected. I initially hired her as an author coach to help me organize and complete my book draft but got so much more. I am in awe of how quickly she helped me turn my book from an idea to a body of work that will soon be read by others. I am immensely grateful to have found a partnership and friendship in Felice and would absolutely recommend her to other aspiring authors.
